    Book of the Dead Reminder
BOOK OF THE DEAD: 2012 Edition!!!!

This is to give artist more then enough notice about the Book of the Dead in the hopes we can get more art this year and ergo more donations to help a truly worthy cause!

Book of the Dead: All art must be sent no later than Oct 15th to make it in the Book of the Dead!!!!

    Book of the Dead
It's Book of the Dead time! What is the Book of the Dead?
The Book of the Dead is a collection of art work that we auction off at
Furfright to help raise money for Furfright's charity,United States War Dogs
Association (www.uswardogs.org).! Let's see if we can beat
that total we raised last year! :)
BUT, for this to work we need:
    Artwork & Photography Needed!

The Charity Book of the Dead needs artwork and photography submissions!

The Book of the Dead is one of FurFright's many fund raising events that will be
raising money for charity. The book contains amazing original artwork and prints
donated by a wide variety of talented artists, and is auctioned off at the end
of the convention. All money raised by its sale will go to the United States War
Dogs Association (www.uswardogs.org), which helps these canine soldiers by:

-- Educating the public with their traveling display and presentations.

-- Working to find loving homes for retired Military and Police dogs

-- Sending care packages of necessities to dog/handler teams overseas.

-- Honoring those who have given their lives and continue to serve by working
towards getting a National War Dogs Monument built and Commemorative US postage
    stamp issued.

    Submission guidelines:

-- Halloween and War Dog-themed artwork (original and prints) and photography
preferred (though all subject matter is welcomed).
-- NO ADULT WORK! All submissions must be rated G to PG13
    -- Pieces need to be 8.5 x 11 inches
-- Digital submissions should be high resolution so a high quality 8.5 x 11"
    print can be created.

Deadline is October 15, 2012. This gives you plenty of time to get something done!

    Send submission to:
    Silvermane
    c/o Furfright
    20 Harrisburg Ave.
    Westbrook, ME USA 04092

Digital submission can be emailed to: wolfart1977@aol.com.

Remember all proceeds raised for this go to the US War Dogs and helps those dogs
and handlers that have served and continue to serve our country!

    To Pre-Register, visit: http://www.furfright.org/attendee.html
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    2) Costume Competition

What's Halloween without costumes? Well, the law defines it as "unwanted solicitation" and "stalking". So avoid incarceration and bring your best costume to FurFright for our Costume Competition! The most imaginative, entertaining costume wins!

To take part come to the Ballroom Saturday morning between 10am and Noon and sign-up (you do not have to be in costume to register). We'll be accepting a maximum of 20 contestants, and the sign-up process is first-come-first-serve, so the earlier you get there the better!

Costumes must be suitable for all ages. For the purpose of this competition, fursuits DO NOT constitute a costume! Though you may apply a theme and wear a costume over a fursuit. Costumes must show a basic degree of effort. Cheap-ass costumes are not allowed. Your costume can't be a tail or fursuit or an eyepatch you made out of a pizza box and a shoelace. For God's sake, people . . . TRY! ;o)

Costumes will be judged as part of the Masquerade, Saturday from 7-9pm in the ballroom.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pre-Reg Price Increase Deadline (May 31st)
The first registration deadline is May 31st! After that date you can STILL pre-register, but the prices increase. Pre-registration is open until September 17th.

Register now and you not only save money, but you assure yourself admission by getting in before we reach the attendance cap (1500).

    Three Great Reasons To Pre-Register:
    1. It’s cheaper (you save cash monies)!
    2. You get into the con quicker (less lines, less waiting)!
    3. FurFright only hosts a maximum of 1500 attendees, and when you pre-reg you're guaranteed admission!

In order to honor our attendees' wishes and preserve the character of the con, continue to serve our attendees on a personal level, avoid overcrowding and waiting 40 minutes for an elevator, and not ruin the damn thing by moving it into a soulless convention center, we host a maximum of 1500 attendees. Once that number is reached, in pre-reg and/or at-the-door, no more badges will be issued. So DON'T WAIT! Also... DON’T PANIC! There's still plenty of space (we're at 277 out of 1500), so just pre-reg and you're in! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! ;o)

    To Pre-Register, visit: http://www.furfright.org/attendee.html

    The Mystery of Charity
Greetings from the FurFright Charity Department!

The con is rapidly approaching and big plans are in the works for our
10th Anniversary! We're on a mission to break last year's charity
total, but we need your help!

Once again we're supporting The United States War Dogs Association,
and every penny goes to save the lives of dog and human soldiers
alike, as well as educate the public of their plight, and honor canine
    heroes past, present, and future.

Here's what you can do to help!

    CHARITY AUCTION:
You can bid on and win some outstanding artwork and merchandise! We
not only need your bids, but we need you to donate desirable items and
services! So bring your donated items to the charity room, bid, and
    help the War Dogs!

    BOOK OF THE DEAD:
Attention ARTISTS and PHOTOGRAPHERS! This is a great way for you to
donate your skills! The Book of the Dead is a portfolio filled with
all sorts of art and photos that we auction off. Deadline for mail-in
submissions is October 15th. Or, just bring your submission to the
charity room at the con. For more information please contact
    Silvermane at: silvermane1977@gmail.com.

    RAFFLE:
We will also have a charity raffle, so come on down and buy tickets
for chance to win all kinds of amazing merchandise!

    BUCKET BRIGADE:
Our team of critters will be returning to haunt the halls of
Furfright! So if you see a fursuiter with an official "Bucket Brigade"
badge please give whatever you can, and get a hug in return! Every
penny, nickel, and peso goes to help the War Dogs! So give until it
    hurts!

    DONATION BUCKETS:
Buckets can be found throughout the con, so if your pockets are filled
with loose change lighten the load and help our charity!

    ***NEW THIS YEAR!***

    MYSTERY BOXES:
What is a MYSTERY BOX? It's a box filled with....with....mystery! Who
knows what will be in these boxes?! Rare collectables, Free
registration/sponsorship, The Holy Grail, Jimmy Hoffa? Bid and find
    out!

FIRST IN LINE BADGE: Tired of waiting in the registration line? Want
to come to the con and get your badge as quickly as possible so you
can see your friends and stalk that fursuiter? Sure you all do! So
we've come up with a one-of-a-kind badge that allows you and ONLY you
to cut to the head of the line at Registration! Who gets this badge?
    Whoever wins the auction!

POPUFUR BADGE: There can be only one! This badge is only for the
single most special fur in the fandom! Is it you?

We'll also have tons of art, merchandise, services and more! So come
to the charity room and bid!

If you have any items you think would raise money, please contact our
    charity department at: auction@furfright.org

We cannot emphasis enough that EVERY PENNY of every donation goes to
    help the War Dogs!

Thank you to everyone who stayed up so late! I'm sorry I don't have room for everyone!

    *hugs*

PS: Apparently people had some trouble with being sent to the wrong page on the site at the moment we went live. I do not know what or how that happened, but I have passed along the info to the webmaster.

Support Another Northeast Con (What The Fur?)!
"What The Fur?" in Montreal is two months away, and I'm literally giddy with anticipation!

There's still plenty of time to book your room, register, and have some fun with us in The Great White North! All the info can be found here: http://www.whatthefur.ca/home_e.php

FurFright is the con I work, and "What The Fur?" is the con I attend to relax and have a great time! The con is intimate, friendly, welcoming, nearby, and VERY affordable! The people who run it are salt of the earth (and have helped us staff FurFright for years), and they put on a con for all the right reasons. It's social, fun, unique, and Montreal is an amazing city! There's so much to see and do! And it's a short drive from most places in the Northeast! I'm from CT, and it only takes me 6 hours. Obviously it's shorter the farther North you live. ;o)

I can NOT recommend this con enough!

Attend if you can, and give them a shout in your journals/blogs! It's a great, young con that deserves our support!

    http://furfright.livejournal.com/454981.html

    Here is the updated information:

If you visit the Dealer Registration page (http://www.furfright.org/dealer.html) right now, you will see a series of three grey-ed buttons near the top of the page. This is the new location of the Dealer Request form. At 11:59pm (Eastern time) on Saturday, March 31st, color will appear on these buttons, indicating they are active. The left side of the button will be blue, the other red. Dealers requesting half-tables will click on the blue half of the button; dealers wanting whole tables will click on the red half of the button. This will take you to the second portion of the form where you fill in the basic information listed previously (email address, business name, personal name). (NOTE: The buttons are also marked "half-table" and "full-table" to make things clear.)

Please keep in mind that this first step will ONLY be to REQUEST a table. It is NOT a guarantee or purchase of a table. I will be online and responding to requests as they appear in my Inbox. This process will get backed up very quickly so it may be as much as an hour before I send out the final table request acceptance email. Anyone who doesn't receive an acceptance email will be put on our Waiting List for when/if any openings occur.

If you have any questions about becoming a Dealer and you've read the Dealer Registration page and the Dealer Packet (PDF), please feel free to ask!

Marine Seeks to Adopt War Dog
But of course the process is being held up with government red tape. This why it is important to support the United States War Dogs Association. So these veteran dogs can live out the remaining years of their lives comfortably.

Dealers' Dungeon registration opens March 31st!
    MARK THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR!!!

Dealer registration opens Saturday, March 31st at 11:59pm EST (Eastern). Tables go quickly so, if you want one, get there early! Estimated sell-out time should be 1-2 MINUTES! (No joke. Just ask anyone who's braved these maddening crowds...)

We will be using a short, simplified form on the dealer webpage to process table requests. When the form is posted on Saturday, March 31st at 11:59pm, fill it out and submit it as quickly as possible. If your request was received before the cutoff, you will be contacted relatively immediately (i.e. before I go to bed). If not, you will be put on our waiting list and contacted should a spot open up. To finish the dealer registration process and secure your table, you will need to complete the full dealer registration form (which will be in the confirmation email you receive) and send payment in full by April 5th.

The form will be located on the dealer registration page, it will be just below the list of prices in the section titled "Dealer Pre-Registration". To load the form at 11:59pm EST, keep hitting 'Refresh' or the circling arrow located at the top of your web browser until the form appears. Please note that there is no other change to the webpage other than the form appearing, so when you refresh, the top of the webpage will not change in appearance. Be sure to scroll down to the proper part of the webpage to check for the form.

The dealer registration webpage is located here:
    http://www.furfright.org/dealer.html

For those of you wanting to know what information will be immediately needed to get your request in asap:
-- email - make sure you get this correct so I can contact you (**see bottom of post)
-- business name - either your legal business name or whatever artist name you go by
-- contact name - this needs to be your actual first and last name (no fandom names)
-- table size requested - half or whole table (drop-down menu)

You will only be able to register for a half- or whole table. No multiple-table spots will be offered. (However, if you want to be seated next to someone specific, please let me know when you register.) Whole tables are 3' deep x 8' wide. Half-tables are 3' deep x 4' wide.

If you have ANY questions, NOW is the time to ask. If you don't want to post here, please feel free to send me an email (http://www.furfright.org/contact.htm).

    *hugs*

** I/FurFright will not be responsible for any mistyped email addresses. If I contact you and the email bounces back, you will forfeit your space. I recommend that you type your email into a word-processing document or other text box somewhere BEFORE 11:59pm, double-check to make sure it's correct, then CTRL+C (copy) it and CTRL+V it into the proper area of the form once our request form appears on the webpage. BE SURE TO TRIPLE-CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING YOUR FORM.

Artist Alley tables are only offered at the con.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

    *hugs*

    2011 Furfright Photoshoot
After three months of my day job doing it's best to kill me by sleep deprivation, and technical issues to overcome I have managed to process and upload the 1100+ pictures from the photoshoot! I apologize to all for the delay, sadly it was inevitable.

Click on the fuzzy to get the photos

For anyone who missed picking up the DVDs of their photos you can e-mail me at cmbrown[at]twcny[dot]rr[dot]com and I will upload the full size images to a place where you can download them.

    I hope you all enjoy!

    Check your ID!
You MUST have a current (non-expired) government issued photo ID to enter the convention. A list of acceptable forms of ID can be found here: http://www.furfright.org/attendee.html

There are no exceptions, so do yourself a favor right now. Look at your driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID and look at the expiration date. If it expires in September or October, mark your calendar and get it renewed WELL in advance (at LEAST 2 months) so you'll have it in plenty of time for the con.

We do NOT accept learner's permits, college IDs, work IDs, or temporary IDs. We do NOT accept IDs which have expired.

If you have ANY question about your ID, please feel free to ask!
